I totally agree, I can't imagine the kinds of inspiration a place like this could invoke.
My mother always said she had wanted to travel to see the gardens of British Columbia, now I know why.

I too have been to #6 Butchart Gardens in British Columbia, Canada. Just breathtaking! Very deserving to be on this list.

Levens Hall Topiary Gardens - UK
I thought the Levens Hall gardens were interesting. I believe it is the oldest continuous garden in the world -- created in the late 1600's and any tree or bush that died was replaced by the exact same species. They were trimmed the same throughout all the years.
Levens Hall Click on The Gardens tab and they have a slide show. I haven't been there, but I'd love to go! |

The Beth Chatto Garden near Colchester, Essex, UK, is an inspiration. It shows what can be done with poor gravelly soil interspersed with boggy patches. The website has a gallery of photos of the plants that grow there.
