ya, it's pretty awesome to see what can be done. never really crossed my mind to garden on the roof but once you see it.... why not? especially if you don't have any other space.

Many gone-green folks grow gardens on their inner-city roofs in order to decrease the effects of urban heat islands and to increase biodiversity. A rooftop garden has another added benefit that is often overlooked. It can decrease storm water runoff.

Storm water runoff isn't problematic in and of itself, but when that storm water flows into the gutters and streets, it picks up chemicals and other bits of filthy detritus and carries that pollution into our streams and watersheds.

Why not?
I don't see why you couldn't. There are several options between garden beds and elevated tables and different watering options that make it possible. I have seen some at Yuppie Gardener - Products that are even on wheels to make it easier to move around.

Garden Design
hi am newbie here!

Honestly this is the first time i heard gardening on their roof. It's unusually for me though:eek:...most folks i know they are gardening on their backyard...some of them spend money just to design their garden.

I love roof gardens.. Why not use that space anyway instead of putting stone or tar on a roof? Get some plants going and it makes much better use of the space

Wow so beautiful to watch those pictures of roof gardens. Specially
the first one with lush green roof!! I was not familiar with this kind
of gardening. Must use my roof for this purpose!
