imp is on a distinguished road
The devil's strip here ( between the sidewalk and the road) is planted with some bush yellow squash and herbs, some sunflowers ( just because they make me laugh). The herbs that like poorer soil and heat really love it- the rosemary looks attractive and we mulched heavily with free woodchips from the chipper people who were grinding up some trees up the block. Marigolds are also out there- heat lovers and add some more color as well.

Our old and rotten Sycamore had died and when we cut it off ground level it was hollow, so filled it with compost and dirt, planted some dusty miller in there for several years.

We used to have a great lawn, but after we got some unusual snow cover for about 6 days a couple winters back, all the bermuda died forever. I tried to replant it, and other grasses, watered and weeded, mowed and edged....and got dallas grass and weeds mainly.

Gave up onn the lawn and figured if it was that much hassle, I would put in a garden area, with veg's and flowers and my roses.

I like it much better now.
