From the Shenandoah Valley
Hello all, this looks to be a new forum just forming? From the activity thus far it certainly appears it will achieve critical mass and I will be happy to grow with it.
Looking forward to getting to know other gardeners here. Me? I'm a forester, having spent 20 years in a state position as a service forester. I've worked as an urban forester and in the landscape and gardencenter industry. I grew up in a family florist business in NJ. So I feel I have a wide range of experience to share and horticultural interests to feed. |

Thankyou Ispichlin,
An urban forester is responsibile for the managment of the forest resource in urban areas. These are not just limited to trees in city parks, but also include street trees. The urban forest resource includes the forests, trees, wildlife, understory vegetation, soil resources and water resoruces with in a given urban area such as a city, a suburb, a town, a college campus, etc. Where as arborists are primarily concerned with individual tree care and health, the urban forester looks at the resource as an integrated whole along with the human aspects of the community and attempts to develope and ecsystems approach to the entire ball of wax.
