Hello from the Wild and Wonderful state!
Hello All!
Let's see where to start...I'm new to this forum (Obviously) and haven't really done a lot of them to start with. I grew of in the Finger Lakes area of NY, where my family always had gardens, and have moved around the Northeastern part of the US for the last ten years. Since I've been situated in the Eastern panhandle of WV now for for the last four+ years, I thought it was time to start putting down some roots. I joined the Master Gardener program in 2005 and found a lot of interesting information through them. Since my husband and I moved into our house in September of 2006, I've been doing the landscaping here at the house. I pretty much started out with a clean slate and have had to work from the ground up. My major problem here is wind and a lack of trees, so gardening can get interesting at times. I hope to find out soom really good tips and ideas here, so any help would be appreciated! Thanks! M |

Hello MrsFrogs, I'm a new member too. I have done a few Garden Forums and communities, and this has attracterd me as one that may become quite active. Finger lakes huh? I barely remember visiting that area as a young kid visiting my brother who was studing hort at Cornell.
Becoming a MG is an excellent way to gain access to some outstanding garden and hort info. Look forward to seeing you around the boards. As you already know, I'm not too far from your location. Wes |

NY to WV
Yeah, I took my Sr. year of HS at Cornell's "teaching" hospital in Ithaca...that was interesting. Now here I am staying in WV after going to university here. Our MG program was something like 40 hours and then we need to keep current with at least 12 hours volunteering and education...like as an officer I could get below 100 a year...LOL. Anyway, we are getting geared up for our annual Plant Fair held here in town the Friday and Saturday of Mother's Day weekend (May 9th and 10, 2008); that keeps us all busy. Good luck keepiong your plants on track with the weather; there is a possability of snow here Sunday and Monday evenings
, but I guess we'll live.M |
