Hello everyone!
I'm so glad Facebook had a link to this site! I'm so excited to be a new part of this group and I hope to learn a lot from you and hopefully one day give a lot back-though I am a new gardener so that may be awhile. My husband and I moved to our home in Springboro, OH May 21st, 2007. It was a bit late to see the "Spring Show" that occured at our house last year, but I took care of that by planing 150 bulbs this fall and am thrilled to see the first of them pushing their way up beckoning spring to hurry and get here! Planting bulbs and dead-heading annuals is about where my expertise ends. We purchased a home where the inside was well cared for but the outside was virtually left wild. This past summer was spent cutting down a lot of trees that had become overgrown and dead and we are finally ready to start planting, prunning and caring for what is left! Besides trying to get control over our yard I teach piano privately in my home and have been doing that for the past four years. I adore my job and am very serious about it. My students have a commitment to piano and I expect them to work at it and give it their best. I also love to cook. I rarely cook the same thing as I find there are just too many recipes to try out. We don't have any kids but we're hoping for that to change soon-although it's more difficult then we expected so we've been seeking help. We DO have two AMAZING fur-babies that keep us on our toes. Gilligan and Serenity get along great and they are curious little cats. That's about it. I look forward to getting to know all of you! Thanks for letting me in! -Joy |

Hi Joy - Welcome!
It sounds like you have a big project on your hands this year with your new home and your future garden. I hope you'll be able to find some good tips on the site to help you out. I've found that many new gardeners have gotten interesting in gardening after buying a home. Suddenly you have a yard and space and there are so many possibilities! Not that people can't garden successfully in containers, but for many it just doesn't seem to cross their minds when they only have a balcony or patio. Anyway, hope you have fun with the experiment. ![]() |

Hi, i love to cook the same way... too many receipes so little time, good luck with your new Home, just picture what you want the yard to look & feel like, then seek local gardening magazines to help, i live in NJ and found that as I moved around & started from scratch each time it was fun to try different things in all areas of my yard, sometimes I dig up perrienials after a few years, split them & save money while I spread the beauty all over to other beds.
Have Fun! |
