Learning to Gardener is on a distinguished road
Best hedge type to grow in Sydney Australia

I am a very, very novice gardener.

I would like to remove a privit hedge from our front garden and replace it with a plant that will provide lots of privacy in a highly exposed area. I would like a formal hedge one that can grow well in shade in temperatures of 20ish degrees C in Winter (65-75F) and 27ish degree C (75-85F) in summer. The believe that the garden bed may sit on rock (although not 100% sure). Just below the hedge is a footpath and on the other side of the footpath only about 5 metres away from the hedge is a very big fig tree. To ensure privacy I would like it to grown to about 3.5-4 metres

Friends have suggested either a Murraya, Lilli Pilli or a Viburnum. Can anyone suggest which one might be more suitable for a formal garden?

Many thanks
