potted bamboo - Garden Plants and Gardening Forum

I bought a potted bamboo plant about 7 or 8 months ago and for the first 5 or so months is was doing really well. I keep an inch or so of water in it (it's one of those no soil plants, just water and stones on top...) but recently it's started to look pretty bad. Some of the stalks are dying and it looks like the water (which I change frequently) is getting kind of moldy looking.

Anyone know what I'm doing wrong here?

Some interesting tips here, and I'm not sure if this is the symptom you are seeing, but this lucky bamboo care guide says:

Two of the most common factors are 1.) too much direct sunlight; and 2.) too salty or heavily-flouridated tap water. Give your new Lucky Bamboo a thriving start be sure to keep it away from direct sunlight, and water only with filtered or natural spring water.
