Juelie's State Flower Garden of Gifs
I just found this site and thought this particular page was rather nice. ![]()

I like yours a lot. I didn't like mine very much the instant I saw it, it doesn't capture the true nature of Yucca at all. It doesn't give any impession of how tall the flower stems are.
But... overall I thought it was a great page... except for the incessant bird calls. I had to write to her and tell her how much I like her site, but that that particular page ... gets crazy making if you stay very long. I think sound is cool on a site, but best not on a loop. ![]()

I'm laughing, but I'm actually sorry that I sent you there and then you got bombarded.
I hope she takes them off... because other than that I liked it.

![]() The ever wonderful Lady's Slipper of Minnesota. The birds were pleasant at first, now...not so much.

Oh, I like yours a lot. They're orchids, aren't they?
Gosh... charming, indeed! Yes... the birds. I had hoped she'd take the sound off or put it on a single play.

It is an orchid and sadly it's illegal to propagate. I have found it near my cabin in NW MN on some roadsides near the woods.
Quote:
Edit: But now that I read that, it's only illegal to pick them, while you are in MN. These things grow in other states and they may be obtainable through cutting or seedlings? Edit: After searching a little I found a place a little over two hours from me that sells seedlings! Cypripedium reginae. The queen's or showy lady's-slipper. Large size, spectacular beauty, and relative ease of culture combine to make this species one of the most desirable for the cool greenhouse or bog garden. With refrigeration for three months or more, these plantlets will produce first leaves within two weeks after being placed in a warm, sunny location. We recommend raising these seedlings in a greenhouse with approximately 60% shading and at least 60% relative humidity, but we have successfully carried them through their first season in closed containers under grow lights. In humid climates the seedlings may be planted outdoors if kept very moist and protected from predators. This species cannot be shipped during below-freezing conditions; shipping is timed when weather at both our location and the destination is satisfactory. Zones 2-5. Cypripedium reginae seedlings: 5-9, $6.00 each; 10-25, $5.00 each; 26-99, $4.50 each; 100 and over, $4.25 each. Price isn't bad either. I sent them an e-mail ![]()

I think it's probably good that it's against the law to uproot them.
I read a book decades ago about an expedition to some rain forest. They captured tons of the animals. then years later they went back and were surprised that there were fewer animals.
