Which Tasselflower is which?
Hi GrowGirl,
I have at least three Tassel Flower like things in my yard (in Florida). I think my red one is Emilia fosbergii, my first purple one is Emilia sonchifolia, and I have no idea (yet) what my smaller multi-flowered purple one is, or even if it's a Tassel Flower. I have a photo on my nectar plants page (I butterfly garden) here: Steph's Virtual Garden: Nectar Plants and I can send other photos. Do you know if my ID's are right on the ones I think I know (photos there too), or what my third plant might be? Thanks Last edited by sososleepy; 12-30-2007 at 07:49 AM. Reason: I mixed up the names on the red and purple plants - am correcting it. |

I might have found it; it could be Vernonia blodgettii.

Hey sososleepy, welcome to the site. Sounds like you got it answered -- this information was originally from the USDA plants database, which would be a good place to double check -- they have some photos there too.

Hi smgardener,
Thanks. I've used that one, and this one for Florida Plants: ISB: Atlas of Florida Vascular Plants. Both are very helpful. |
