Our first yard, tips for plants

We bought our first home last fall and the first thing we had to do was cut down the red oaks that had become carpenter ant infested. Now we are looking for what replacement trees to plant. We have very limited space and want trees that won't root like the red oaks did. We want something that will grow 15-30 feet tall.

We have a lot of moisture in our soil, so much that if we place a gazing ball stake and it rains, the stake turns over. This happened with a wire christmas tree as well. As our yard goes towards the highway, it is raised so the water flows to the front yard. It's not muddy, but it does hold moisture. We are having dirt hauled in to level out the front yard and want to put in at least two trees plus flowers, shrubs, etc. Any suggestions would be most appreciated as we are totally new at this. Thanks!
