Coleus in my Garden
I guess I will have to concede defeat there – Regular blogging is not easy. I got irregular with posting a number of times in the past, but now becoming irregular has become a regular feature and I feel that regular blogging is not a choice one makes, it’s in the genes. Anyway no more tall claims about getting regular now, I will just stay cool about the regularity issue. Thankfully, tending to plants is not a victim of bloggers’ block. One can be lax in her blogging rituals but the plants keep receiving their due attention. Just like a human baby, who with her innocent look ensures that she remains the centre of attraction, nature has made the plants so beautiful that it is well neigh impossible to neglect them. Hello
1.The first step is to prep the pot for the cutting. Fill the pot with soil, then water until the soil is damp. 2.Take your coleus and find a strong, healthy stem. The main stalk works best, because the coleus branches out after the cutting is taken. If you want more than one cutting, you can wait until the plant regrows and branches out, or use multiple stalks at a time. 3.Take your fingers and place them at the base of the first 3 sections of leaves at the top of the stem. Be sure to leave enough stem for the plant to regrow from. pinch the section off. 4.Gently press the base of the cutting into the soil until only the leaves are showing. Spray with water 4-5 times per day for the first 2 weeks, then 1 time per day for the next 2. It takes about a month for the cutting to establish a root system, and start to grow.
