Seedaholic 2013
Fran Sorin on Gardening Gone Wild has a post on Top Seeds for 2013 where you are invited to post your own, I have at least a couple hundred packets of seeds, picking them up in my travels, saving seeds from everywhere as well as from farmer's market produce. Here are a few of mine for this year and their sources. The peppers, eggplants and tomatoes were sown last October so the first four pics are of the current harvest. All kinds of tomatoes, heirlooms and hybrids, were planted. Above, gold nugget. My very favourite tomatoes are black krim, black cherry and green zebra. The 2011-2012 season was stupendous for calabaza squash. The 2013 crop is a bit late as the first sowing was eaten by bugs. Seeds mainly from calabazas bought in the farmers market. Last week I sowed some Doe Hill Golden Bell Pepper which I grew once a few years ago and just love. Also sowed some Aji Dulce peppers: in the Caribbean we use this in many cooked dishes the same way you would have garlic and onions eg all soups, stews, casseroles etc. I love the wild mix of bi-color zinnias, Eden Brothers Carrousel My favourite morning glory, Heavenly Blue from Botanical Interests Also planted some nasturtiums, loads of Arugula and basils including Basil Napoletano I would also love to see what seeds other bloggers are planting.
