This Blooms Day I am thrilled to have my Flamboyant ( Royal Poinciana) tree bloom for the first time!

The gene for the yellow flower is recessive, so whether one gets yellow or a shade of orange is only to be seen upon first bloom. Flowers may be vermilion, orange or yellow.
One of the most spectacular trees in the world, Delonix regia is endemic to the western forests of Madagascar, but has been introduced into tropical and sub-tropical regions worldwide and is popular in the Caribbean and South America.
