Fried Green Cherry Tomatoes

![]() Who can ever see the words fried green tomatoes without thinking of the movie which basically introduced the concept of fried green tomatoes to the rest of the US and US movie watching world? Until then I wasn't even aware that green tomatoes were edible. I got these green cherry tomatoes free-as the farmer was pulling out his spent plants-he seemed surprised when I asked him if I could get the green tomatoes. I sliced them in 2, coated them with some homemade yogurt, then seasoned with chili pepper flakes, salt, black pepper. Then coated them in some cornmeal (which only stuck to the cut side), and shallow fried them in olive oil for 8 minutes. They were surprisingly delicious. ![]() Read more at Caribbean Garden... |
