The folks from Morey Media have made a change this month and sent me a copy of the latest Organic Gardener (no 62) to review for you and one to giveaway!

It's a Special Edition and our old mate Peter Cundall is the guest editor.
Pete has a great article on growing potatoes! He gives you all the info on growing the best potatoes including his "10 Simple Steps to No-dig Spuds". Something I found interesting in that article was the fact that Potato tubers form best at temperatures under 26C with their optimal temperature range being between 16C and 20C. This would explain the problems I have in our summers over here...it is rare for our summer temperature to be below 26C. I'll have to work on ways to keep the spuds cooler!

Phil Dudman gives the low down on growing Broccoli successfully while Julie Ray gives some delicious ways to eat it! How about her Broccoli Pesto, Yummy Broccoli and Potato Soup or try the Broccoli Pakoras with two yoghurts. Just don't ever boil it to death and overcook it!

Penny Woodward discusses the benefits of using biodegradable pots in her article entitled "Plantable Pots". I'm finding it very useful to be able to plant out a seedling with it's pot intact into the soil...it lessens the chance of transplant shock and root damage.

Penny Woodward has another article about a fantastic school in Victoria that has such a great environmental programme running that it would surprise me if the kids were ever reluctant to go to school! They have a wetland, vegetable beds for each class, compost bins and worm farms, chooks, goats and other animals and even a bird hide. School was never that much fun in my day!
