And not just any old cyclamen: white cyclamen. In these drab wet days, a threat of white cyclamen- through a border, alongside a hedge or lighting a path through trees - is a joy.In the little village of Cassone, on the shores of Lake Garda in northern Italy, they have a cyclamen festival in the summer when the pale violet variety that grows wild there in the woods and on the alpine meadows is in full bloom. Somehow, in England, they'd seem wasted in high summer. Their value for us is in the way they illuminate the winter garden. The hardy, outdoor varieties are coum.
