![]() Let’s hear it for Brucie. Bruce Forsythia is not only a much-loved octogenarian family entertainer, it’s also a great plant for a burst of spring colour.Some may find the shock of bright yellow that Forsythia puts out in March a touch gaudy. Not me. I have a couple in a hedge, mixed with holly, and they don’t half brighten up the front garden. The one to go for is the vigorous, upright-habit hybrid Forsythia x. Intermedia By the way, if like me you find the old memory going and plant names slipping through your fingers, do what I do: give them the memorable nick-names of family entertainers and other stars, such as Brucie.
