Plant of the week: spring-flowering almond
This content is syndicated via RSS from the blog: Classic Gardening
Of all the spring-flowering trees, the almond is usually the earliest, and hence the most valuable to a garden - and a gardener - starved of blooms. The ornamental cherry, plum and peach are spectacular too, but to my mind the almond is the daddy. The pink-flowered Common Almond, p. dulcis, grows to about 25ft, and has a pleasingly rounded shape. Go for ‘Alba’ if you want white blooms or ‘Erecta’ if space is limited and you want a column-shaped tree. For more Plants of the Week, go here Read More at Classic Gardening... |
