This content is syndicated via RSS from the blog: Scarecrow's Garden

Scarecrow's Garden Journal Notes:

It's June and things are quiet in the garden...

  • A trial planting of the bottom ends of some shop bought Spring Onions - they have sprouted new leaves for use!
  • Like most of the garden the Snow Peas and Lettuce bed (Bed7) is covered in an attempt to lessen frost damage.
  • Small Broccoli shoots are developing.
  • And the Strawberry Tank (Tank Bed e) has been cleared, topped up with compost and re-planted.
Temperatures this month:
Lowest Min -5.1C
Highest Min 10.2C
Lowest Max 8.3C
Highest Max 12.6C
24mm Rain

Weather Highlights?

There were 16 days with the chance of frost in June including the lowest -5.1C.

Things have slowed down in the garden and very little has been sown.
Winter is a time of planning for Spring, best done sitting by the fire!

Harvest Tally for May:
Doesn't include Greens fed to the chooks on a daily basis or herbs picked for use in the kitchen for cooking or tea making.
